Ms Muffet

Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet
Eating her curds and whey,
Along came a spider,
Who sat down beside her
And frightened Miss Muffet away

a traditional fermented food
"Little Miss Muffet" is a children's nursery rhyme that appeared in a book on children's nursery rhymes printed in 1805, Songs for the Nursery.

It reminds us that fermented foods are nothing new or unusual.  They continue to be a way to cultivate friendly bacteria in our system.

Curds and whey is made from fermented curds (a kind of cottage cheese) and whey (a protein-rich by-product of cheese-making). Both in their "living" form are said to be foods that can improve intestinal flora.

Kefir is a fermented drink with similar qualities to curds and whey.
